In Novosibirsk, a major city in Siberia, nine people were detained while attempting to lay flowers in Revolution Heroes Square. This was reported by OVD-Info lawyer Vasily Dubkov, who will be providing them with assistance.
Among those detained were left-wing activists: 63-year-old Sergei Krupenko and 36-year-old Oleg Metzler, as well as one minor. All of them were taken to the Central police station.
18:21 All those detained were released without any official reports being filed.
- Earlier, the authorities banned communists from holding a picket on the anniversary of the October Revolution. City officials said that on that day they planned to inspect the condition of the Memorial Panel and the mass graves in the square.
- Oleg Metzler and Sergei Krupenko left the Russian Communist Workers' Party (RCWP) in 2022, when the party supported the war. This was reported by “7×7.” After this, they created their own group—the Russian Communist Party of Internationalists. Krupenko has been fined twice under the article on “discrediting the Russian army” (part 1 of article 20.3.3 of the Administrative Code). The first time was for a YouTube video, and the second time was for a speech at a May Day rally.
