Officers from the Centre “E” detained left-wing activist Artyom Yesikov right at the university, reports the Telegram channel “Soviet Revenge.”

The Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology at Voronezh State University summoned Yesikov for a meeting at 14:00. Just a few minutes after it began, the student informed his associates that he was being accused under an article related to rallies. Security forces then escorted Yesikov out of the dean’s office.

The student was taken to police station No. 6. His lawyer told the channel that Yesikov is being charged under the article on violation of the rules for holding a demonstration by a participant (Part 5 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offences).

The Organisation of Voronezh Marxists believes Yesikov was detained because of a picket in support of Venezuela. On 5 January, several left-wing activists held a group picket in central Voronezh—a large city in western Russia—“to support the Venezuelan people” after the abduction of the country’s head, Nicolás Maduro, by American military forces.

14 January A protocol was drawn up against Yesikov under the article on violation of the rules for holding a demonstration (Part 5 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offences). On 2 February, the case will be considered by the Central District Court of Voronezh, reports the Organisation of Voronezh Marxists.
