A criminal case for “offending the feelings of believers” (Article 148, Part 1 of the Russian Criminal Code) has been opened against a 20-year-old resident of Murino, a commuter town near St Petersburg, over a photo featuring an Easter cake and a sex toy. The story was highlighted by RusNews.
It is specified that Tatyana posted a photo of the cake and the sex toy with the caption “Christ is risen!” in a Telegram channel. The young woman has since deleted the photo and apologised. She said: “I myself am baptised, and there was not a trace of negativity in the post I published; I did not intend to offend, hurt, or desecrate the religion or anyone by this.”
