The Leninsky District Court in Yekaterinburg, a major city in the Urals, has sentenced 36-year-old photographer and stylist Aleksandra Kuzyk to one and a half years of compulsory labour, finding her guilty of the illegal production of pornography (point “b,” part 3, article 242 of the Criminal Code), reports “Komsomolskaya Pravda—Yekaterinburg.”
The prosecutor had requested a four-year prison sentence.
The newspaper clarifies that Kuzyk was convicted because of two books containing fan fiction.
The case was opened in May 2025. The complaint against the stylist was made by a woman who discovered a book of fan fiction, written by Kuzyk, in her underage daughter’s possession.
Originally, KP reported that the case was initiated due to fan fiction with LGBTQ+ characters which the stylist published online. Journalists later found out that the accusations were related not to online publications, but to physical books.
As the newspaper noted, the books had similar content. There were no images in the books. Investigators referred to a psychological and linguistic expert assessment, which identified “signs of pornographic content” in the books.
Kuzyk fully admitted guilt. She explained that writing fan fiction has long been her hobby.
