Boris Nadezhdin has been detained in the Moscow region.

“The police have arrived. I am being taken to the Dolgoprudny department,” Nadezhdin reported on his Telegram channel. The reason for his detention is still unknown.

Earlier, on 10 July, Nadezhdin was added to the register of “foreign agents.” The Ministry of Justice explained this by saying that the politician was spreading “fakes” about decisions of the Russian authorities.

Nadezhdin himself, in a conversation with “Ostorozhno, novosti” (“Caution, news”), said that he intends to continue his political activity and does not plan to leave Russia.

“What is there to comment on? I will continue to live and fight. It is unlikely this will change anything in my political biography. I will keep putting myself forward for the State Duma and collecting signatures,” he said.

Nadezhdin is a former State Duma deputy and one of the founders of the Union of Right Forces. In the 2024 presidential election, he was the only candidate who openly opposed the war. The Central Election Commission permitted him to collect signatures, but later denied him registration.
