A former Yabloko candidate, who was removed from the election, has been fined over a post featuring the film “He Is Not Dimon to You.”

The Moskovsky District Court in Cheboksary fined the head of the regional Yabloko branch, Vladislav Arkadyev, 1,000 roubles (US$11) under the article on demonstrating ‘extremist symbols’ (Article 20.3 of the Administrative Offences Code). This was reported by “7×7.”

The reason was Arkadyev’s old posts on Odnoklassniki. As writes “Angry Chuvashia,” officers from the Centre for Combating Extremism (“Centre E”) found among them a link to the FBK investigation “He Is Not Dimon To You,” published in 2017. The video featured symbols of the foundation, which the Russian authorities only recognised as an ‘extremist organisation’ in 2021.

On 10 September, the Supreme Court of Chuvashia removed Arkadyev from the State Duma election for the single-member Chuvashia constituency no. 43, which is in Cheboksary, a city on the Volga River in central Russia. His rivals filed the lawsuit over font copyright and posts about candidates in the “Angry Chuvashia” channel.

Arkadyev was fined after being removed from the election. At the same time, Article 20.3 of the Administrative Offences Code also temporarily bars people from running for office.
