A new criminal case has been opened against blogger Alexander Shpak.

The Investigative Committee has opened a new criminal case against blogger Alexander Shpak. He is suspected of making public calls for terrorism, reports Fontanka.

The reason for this was a video that Shpak published on his Telegram channel in 2024. The investigation has not specified exactly what was considered a call for terrorism in the video.

Shpak is outside Russia, so the charges are expected to be brought against him in absentia. Previously, the blogger had already been prosecuted in a case regarding so-called “military fakes”: in September 2024, he was sentenced in absentia to eight years in prison.

In April 2025, the Ministry of Justice added Shpak to the register of “foreign agents.”
