The Krasnodar authorities refused to approve a rally against election violations, citing the “threat of drone attacks,” reports “7×7” with reference to the organiser of the event, Kurban Magomedrasulov. Meanwhile, earlier, events in celebration of Krasnodar Day were held in the city without any restrictions.
Magomedrasulov himself was detained when he came to the city administration to collect the official notice of refusal. Six administrative offence reports were drawn up against him: two for “insulting the authorities” (Part 3, Article 20.1 of the Administrative Offences Code) and four for “discrediting” the army (Article 20.3.3). The grounds were comments he made on Telegram. At the station, the activist also recorded an apology on camera, explaining that he did so out of safety concerns.
- After the September elections, rallies against electoral fraud were also attempted in other cities. In Moscow, one such demonstration was not approved due to ongoing “coronavirus restrictions.”
- In Khabarovsk, a major city in the Russian Far East, the organiser of the “For Fair Elections!” picket was taken to the police after receiving a call from the local department. They were later released with a warning about the inadmissibility of unlawful actions.
