FSB officers conducted a search at the home of Angela Donskaya, Secretary of the Vyborg district committee of the Communist Party (CPRF), at around six in the morning. They confiscated her phone and drew up a report, according to RusNews.
According to Donskaya herself, the order states that she is allegedly involved in distributing materials “discrediting” the Russian army and that could lead to mass violations of public order in Leningrad Region (the area surrounding St Petersburg).
“I believe these actions are due to my active public work and personal position,” wrote Donskaya on VKontakte.
Ivan Apostolevsky, a St Petersburg legislative assembly deputy, called what was happening political persecution and said that Donskaya works on responding to appeals from local residents and sending humanitarian aid.
At the same time, in other posts Donskaya has expressed support for Russian servicemembers. For example, on 30 September she wrote about producing medals for soldiers of the 337th Airborne Assault Regiment and called them “our defenders.”
During the September elections, Donskaya ran for the Leningrad Regional Legislative Assembly with the CPRF, but did not become a deputy.
