Sales of Sasha Skocilenko’s book “My Prison Trip” have been halted on one Russian platform after a warning from Roskomnadzor. This was reported by RusNews, citing Freedom Letters publishing house founder Georgy Urushadze.
The platform informed the publisher that it had received a warning from Roskomnadzor stating that the items “may not be allowed for sale within the Russian Federation.” The book can only be put back on sale after the agency withdraws its request. The reason why Roskomnadzor issued the warning is not known.
“My Prison Trip” was published by Freedom Letters in 2025. As reported by Meduza, the book tells the story of Skocilenko’s arrest after an anti-war protest, her life before detention and her time in custody. It includes diaries from the remand prison, transcripts of court hearings, her final statement, the verdict, and a story about her release.
Skocilenko was detained in spring 2022 after she replaced price tags in a St Petersburg supermarket with leaflets containing information about the war in Ukraine. She was charged with distributing “fake news” about the army out of political hatred (subsection “d” of part 2, article 207.3 of the Criminal Code).
In November 2023, Skocilenko was sentenced to seven years in a penal colony. On 1 August 2024, she was released as part of a prisoner swap between Russia and Western countries.
