Alexander Agafonov

A resident of the Tula region, son of Elena Agafonova, an activist recognised as a "foreign agent". In May 2024, he was expelled from the Military Medical Academy. According to him, the formal reason for expulsion was failure to pass an exam, but the real reason was political pressure. "My expulsion is illegal. It is based on the fact that my mother is a 'foreign agent', that I am for a peaceful sky above my head, for my active position and my beliefs," the young man said at the time. After the expulsion Agafonov wrote a report on dismissal from military service, but he was denied and was called up for service. To avoid participating in the war in Ukraine, he left Russia, after which his mother began receiving calls from the military unit and threats of a criminal case for desertion. In December 2024 it became known that the Investigative Committee informed the family that after his expulsion from the military medical academy Alexander Agafonov was sent to contract service. At the same time, the young man denies that he signed a contract. "Agafonov, wishing to take a break from military service, did not arrive at the military unit", - was said in the notification from the department, which the family received.
