On 3 April 2019, detained on suspicion of involvement in the attack on police officers during a rally against the transfer of land to Chechnya on 27 March in Magas. On 5 April, sent to the pre-trial detention centre in Nalchik. He reported that he received bruises during detention. During the confrontation, representatives of law enforcement agencies involved in the clashes with protesters did not identify Oskanov.
On 28 February 2020, he was sentenced to a year and eleven months in an open prison. On 24 April he was released.
