On 4 October 2016, he was detained while handing over 120 thousand rubles and taken into custody on 6 October. He was charged with mediation in commercial bribery involving extortion. On 1 March 2017, the charge was reclassified under the article on extortion on a large scale. Oblezov pleaded guilty and was transferred to house arrest. On 22 November 2018, he was sentenced to three years suspended sentence with a probation period of two years.
