Lived in Khabarovsk, then in Moscow, lawyer. On 18 November 2019, he was detained in Khabarovsk and sent to Moscow and sent to custody the next day in the case of contract killings in 2004 and 2005. Karepov later reported that he was pressured to testify against the former governor of Khabarovsk Krai Sergey Furgal, whom the investigation considered the organiser of the murders.
