Hakobyan was charged with incitement to hatred. Since 24th of April, 2018 he has been under a custodial sentence. On December 27th he was sentenced to 120 hours of community service. On March 1st, 2019 the sentence was cancelled due to the partial decriminalisation of Article 282 of the Criminal Code.
