Artem Begoian

Resident of Mordovia. Detained in December 2022 on charges of committing several arson attacks on the railway in Mordovia and Chuvashia. At that time he was sentenced to a year of probation in a theft case, in January 2023 he was sentenced to a year and seven months of probation in another theft case, details unknown. In March 2023, Adel Khaidarshin, a lawyer representing Begoyan from Solidarity Zone, said that FSB officers forced his client to withdraw. "They said they could take him away allegedly for investigative actions to the forest where they burned the booth and do something to him. They said if you work with the lawyer further, we will take him out of the detention centre. They also threatened to complicate life in the pre-trial detention centre," Haydarshin reports Begoyan's words. "Solidarity Zone" claims that Begoyan has a negative attitude to Russian aggression in Ukraine and hoped to suspend the supply of ammunition, equipment and manpower to the war zone in this way. The arson attacks were qualified by the investigation as terrorist acts. Later it became known that a case of high treason was also opened against Begoyan. On 5 April 2024, he was sentenced to 15 years in a strict regime colony.

In addition, Begoyan was accused of involvement in sabotage on the railway in a case filed in the Krasnoyarsk region. According to the investigation, he, fulfilling the task of a certain "Arthur", was in correspondence with other defendants in the case, informing them where exactly to commit arson. On 1 October 2024, he was sentenced to 20 years in a strict regime colony, taking into account the previous sentence. On 10 July 2025, the court of appeal reduced the sentence by two months.

In February 2025, it became known that a new case was brought against Begoyan - on public justification of terrorism because of conversations with fellow inmates about the undermining of the Crimean bridge and the murder of military correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky.
