An actor who left Russia following the outbreak of the war. In January 2023, he was added to the registry of "foreign agents." That same month, a criminal case was opened against him - as later revealed - on charges of spreading "fake news" about the Armed Forces and inciting hatred. This action was taken on the personal instruction of Alexander Bastrykin, the head of the Investigative Committee. The alleged grounds for the case was an interview given to Novaya Gazeta. On October 14, 2025, the FSB announced the initiation of a criminal case against Smolianinov and other members of the "Anti-War Committee of Russia" on charges of the violent seizure of power and organizing the activities of a terrorist community. The grounds for this action were the adoption of the "Berlin Declaration," which asserted the necessity of a change of power in Russia.
