A resident of Buryatia, a student. No later than June 2023, he was detained on a train. A case was opened against him for preparation for high treason and participation in the activities of a terrorist organisation. According to the investigation, he intended to fight on the Ukrainian side as a member of the Freedom to Russia Legion. On 1 November 2024, Zimin was sentenced to eight years in a strict regime colony.

In June 2025, Zimin wrote in a letter that a case of public glorification of terrorism had been initiated against him because of a certain statement in the pre-trial detention centre, with a positive assessment of an organization that is recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia. On 4 July, he was sentenced on charges of this case, receiving eight and a half years in a strict regime colony in conjunction with the punishment under the first sentence.
