Resident of the Moscow region, artillery officer. Served in the army under a contract since 2019, rose to the rank of platoon commander. Since February 2022, he participated in the invasion of Ukraine, but starting in May he began to ask the command for dismissal, citing his views. According to him, his relatives were killed in Mariupol as a result of the fighting. Due to the refusal to satisfy the report Karpov went to court and won, but at the same time the command sent documents to the military investigation department with a demand to bring the officer to justice.

A case was brought against him for refusal to participate in combat operations in an armed conflict. Karpov was sentenced to two and a half years in a penal colony.
