Eugene Korotun

Resident of Seversk (Tomsk region). On July 14th 2020, Korotun's house was searched and he was detained. The next day, the court sent him under house arrest on charges of organising activities of an extremist organisation due to his involvement with the Jehovah's Witnesses community. Representatives of this community are prosecuted under extremist articles solely for religious activities: meetings, joint worship services, attracting new supporters. On September 7th, the court decided to place Korotun in custody. On January 19th 2022, he was sentenced to seven years in a general regime colony.
