Evgenii Varaksin
Biography
A resident of Lesnoi (Sverdlovsk Region), a metalworker. While in Poland, he transferred money to "Caritas Poland" — a Polish Catholic non-profit organization primarily involved in social welfare and humanitarian aid. On July 22, 2024, after returning to Russia, he was detained and then taken into custody on charges of high treason: the money transfer was deemed as financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On April 21, 2025, Varaksin was sentenced to 12 years in a strict-regime penal colony.
