Biography
A resident of Maloyaroslavets (Kaluga Region). He performed alternative civilian service at a residential care home for elderly people. The Conscientious Objectors’ Movement reported that in August 2024, FSB officers came to his home with a search warrant, seized all electronic devices, and took him to a forest, where they beat him, after which he was released. In January 2025, he was detained again in connection with a criminal case on the public justification of terrorism over comments about drones — the same comments that had served as the basis for the first visit and beating. On 1 September, the court sentenced Bessonov to three years’ imprisonment in a general-regime penal colony.
