Marat Sharifullin

He was detained and arrested in October 2016, together with eight other people, on charges of participation in the activities of an extremist organisation, and his home was searched. Sharifullin admitted involvement in Tablighi Jamaat, but refused to admit that he participated in the activities of an extremist organisation. On 20 April 2017, he was sentenced to three years and three months in prison. On 26 September, the Court of Appeal reduced the sentence to two years and five months. He was released on 29 September 2018.
