Sukhoruchkin is a student of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University. He was charged with vandalism because of the inscription "PUTIN = WAR" on the back of the monument to the 1200 Guardsmen, which he allegedly made on 9 April 2022. After Sukhoruchkin's detention, a video appeared online in which he apologises, says he supports Putin's actions "in Ukraine against Nazism", and pledges to join "patriotic organisations".
