In 2014 and 2016, Elymanov published posts on social media in support of separatists from the Donetsk region, as well as calls for the "final surrender of the Ukrofascists in Lviv." At the same time, he shared posts criticising the Russian authorities. Elymanov was subscribed to independent Russian media outlets and pages of Russian opposition figures. In 2024, he deleted all publications about politics and since then has only posted posts about raising his son and rock bands.
On 21 November 2025, he was sentenced to six years in a general regime colony.
