On 8 April 2019, he was detained on suspicion of involvement in the attack on police officers during a rally against the transfer of land to Chechnya on March 27 in Magas. He was sent to a pre-trial detention centre in Nalchik. He pleaded guilty and agreed to a special order of proceeding of the case.
On December 24, he was sentenced to one and a half years in a penal colony. On 13 January 2020, he was released.
