Dugiev was detained on 15 February 2022 when he was on his way to Nalchik to see an investigator for interrogation. The next day he was taken into custody by court order on a case of using life-threatening violence against a representative of the authorities. On 17 March, he was placed under house arrest and the charge was reclassified to use of violence not dangerous to life and health.
On 10 August he was given a suspended sentence of a year and a half in prison.
