On 17 March, the activist's personal data and information about the criminal case on using violence against a police officer became publicly available. The same day, Taganov was placed under house arrest. On 29 July, he was sentenced to three years' suspended sentence. The court left Taganov under house arrest until the verdict came into force. On 3 October, the court, at the request of the Federal Penitentiary Service, sent Taganov into custody, considering that he violated the conditions of house arrest. The reason was a series of triggers of the tracking bracelet, which was put on Taganov. The report of the penal inspection claims that in one case, the bracelet was triggered because of a technical failure, and in another case, the inspector called Taganov's home number and proved that Taganov was at home. Nevertheless, FSIN provided a certificate that the activist visited the sports club during the hours when the bracelet was triggered. Taganov's wife claims that the certificate was falsified. On 6 October, the verdict came into force, but Taganov remained in custody for a week after the verdict. On 13 October, he was released. In November, the prosecutor's office considered Taganov's placement in custody to be unlawful. On 6 August 2023, Taganov was beaten up by an unknown person because of his online publications critical of Putin.
