On the same day, Fomin's relatives, Elena and Dmitry Prokazovs, were searched, and on 6 August, the prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit to deprive them of their parental rights due to the fact that, according to the investigation materials, they helped Fomin to go beyond the cordon during the action on 27 July by putting a backpack on him, which contained their infant child. On the night of 8 August, Fomin appeared before the Investigative Committee and was detained, without admitting guilt of participation in the riots. The next day the court decided to take him into custody. On 3 September he was transferred to house arrest.
On 6 December, the Investigative Committee reported that the prosecution against Fomin was terminated and that he was released from house arrest.
