He was detained on 2 June 2020 after a search, accused of organising and operating an extremist organisation and recruiting new members. On 5 June, sent under house arrest. On 26 March 2021, was elected a measure of restraint in the form of a signature not to leave. In October it became known that Ohanyan was acquitted of the charge of involvement in the activities of an extremist organisation.
