Valentin Khoroshenin

Coordinator of the anti-war movement "Vesna". He was detained in St. Petersburg on 7 May after searches and taken to Moscow. On 10 May, the court imposed a restriction of certain actions as a pre-trial measure. In May 2023, Khoroshenin's charges were reclassified from participation in the activities of NGOs infringing on the rights of citizens (part 3 of article 239 of the Criminal Code) to creation of such an organisation (part 2 of article 239 of the Criminal Code). On 6 June 2023 Khoroshenin was again detained in St. Petersburg after a search and taken to Moscow. Here he was charged with creation of an extremist community and dissemination of disrespectful information about the days of military glory by a group of persons. On 8 June he was taken into custody. In July it became known that Khoroshenin was threatened by other prisoners in the pre-trial detention centre, the activist also complained about health problems.

In February 2026, the court terminated proceedings against him under the article on involvement in an NGO infringing citizens' rights due to expiry of the limitation period.
