In May 2023, it was reported that Mokrousov was taken into custody in a case of public justification of terrorism and spreading deliberately false information about the Armed Forces. As of 4 August 2023, Mokrousov was released from custody. On 1 November, he was assigned a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions. After his detention, he reported that he had been tortured with a taser, but in court he retracted this statement and pleaded guilty, saying that he had changed his attitude to the "special military operation".
