Hello, it’s OVD-Info! Here is some information about the privacy policy that we adhere to when we use your personal data for the English-language newsletter.
What we know about you
For us to send you newsletters, we need to know:
- your email address, which you submitted when you subscribed to our newsletter;
- information about cookies on your computer that are read when you visit our website. Almost every webpage on the Internet uses this anonymized information to collect statistics.
How and why we use this data
By providing your personal data, you have automatically consented to its use in accordance with the terms of this privacy policy. We have the right to receive, process, store and distribute this data. In this context, distribution means that we enter your data into the database of the distribution service. We need all this to:
- Send you our newsletters;
- Analytics. For instance, we will know how often you open our emails, whether you have unsubscribed from the newsletter, etc.
More on storage, analytics and distribution
We use Mailjet and Maestra to send out our emails.
Mailjet and Maestra has its own legal entity, so when we interact with their service (enter your data to send you an email), we thereby «distribute» your data to them, according to legal terminology.
Since you have provided us with your data — email address and cookies — we have the right to use them in any way permitted by law. We have this right indefinitely — unless, of course, you withdraw your consent. You can do this by emailing: newsletter@ovdinfo.org.
We protect your data from being accessed, destroyed, altered, blocked, copied, or distributed by anyone. We also protect it from other illegal actions according to the law. Note that we will use the data you give us to build an audience portrait to create an experience best suited for you — if you choose to provide an email from which we can infer your industry, name, gender or other elements of your identity these elements might be added to the audience portrait.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- check with us about what kind of data we have collected–including automatically–and how it is used (see above);
- correct your information if it has changed;
- prohibit us from processing and storing your data at any time;
- prohibit us from using your data, but allow us to store it;
- prohibit us from using your data for a specific purpose, such as marketing (but we will not do that anyway);
- prohibit actions that a computer performs with your data without human intervention (but in the case of our newsletter, this means that you would not be able to receive it: emails are sent out automatically).

We may change the terms of this privacy policy. This is a transparent procedure and we will notify you in advance if we want or plan to do this, as well as indicate the date the policy was last updated.
