The 2nd Western District Military Court has sentenced 47-year-old Voronezh Region resident Sergei Tokarev, a security guard at a major regional agricultural holding, to two years in a penal colony for making online calls to commit acts of terrorism (Part 2, Article 205.2 of the Russian Criminal Code). This was reported by Voronezh1.ru, citing the press service of the regional FSB office.

The security services allege that on Telegram, Tokarev “in a discussion on a channel recognised as a terrorist organisation in Russia, made statements inciting the physical elimination of senior officials of the Russian Federation.” The article does not specify which channel or which statements are in question.

In addition to two years in a general regime colony, the Voronezh resident has also been given a two-year ban on administering websites and messenger channels after release.

A source from Voronezh1.ru said that items “which may indicate sympathy to organisations and ideas banned in Russia” were found in the convicted person’s home. The report does not clarify what those items were.
